Whether at work, school, or church, we’ve all been new at some point in our lives. Being new can be a source of anxiety, but here at Memorial, we want to make this as welcoming and low-stress as we possibly can.
Worship is at 9:30 am each Sunday, but there’s a lot more than that going on at Memorial.
Arriving on Sunday
When you arrive on a Sunday morning, we’ve got greeters right inside the door to welcome you, and to answer any immediate questions you might have.
Coffee and tea are available before worship in the fellowship hall (to the left when you enter the church). Didn’t get a chance to finish your cup? That’s OK, bring it with you to worship.
Free nursery services for young children are provided beginning at 9:15 am each Sunday and lasting through our education hour. The nursery is located downstairs, just below the sanctuary, allowing easy access for any parents that might need to check on, or drop off, children during the service. We also have a separate room in the rear of the sanctuary that provides a place for parents to take children who might need a slight break from service, or just need to move around for a little bit.
When you enter the sanctuary (to the right when you enter the church), ushers will be waiting to greet you and provide our worship bulletins. If you would like an activity bag for any child(ren), please ask the ushers. The ushers can also providing hearing assistants as needed–simply ask.
Sit wherever you would like. We use the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal for our order of service and hymns. Page numbers are printed in your bulletin. Occasionally, we will use the Marty Haugen “Now The Feast” order of service. On those Sundays, it will be given to you along with your bulletin. In the pews you will also find pew Bibles if you would like to look up the readings, though our readings are printed in your bulletins.
During worship, we offer a children’s time, at which children may also pick up a children’s bulletin from the front of the sanctuary.
Communion is celebrated each Sunday, and we welcome all believers to participate.

After Worship/Education Hour
Following worship, we have a number of things you can participate in.
Adult education is offered in our Adult Ed. Classroom (downstairs) for all post-confirmation age and up. The theme for adult education varies throughout the year, please visit the adult education webpage for an update of the current topic. Adult education begins shortly after service ends and concludes at 11:30 am.
Children and youth are asked to leave the sanctuary via the side staircase and proceed to education. Children in PreK-grade 6 participate in Sunday School in our downstairs classrooms. Children begin class in the choir room (downstairs) with singing. We have three classes: PreK/K, 1-3, and 4-6. Youth in grades 7-8 participate in Confirmation classes each Sunday during the education hour. Youth meet in the youth room (downstairs). Both Sunday School and Confirmation go from 10:30-11:30 am.
There is also fellowship time in the fellowship hall for any not participating in another activity.
Each Sunday we have snacks and beverages available in the fellowship hall for all to enjoy.
On many Sundays, we have special events either during the education hour, or immediately following, so please pay attention to the bulletin, in-worship announcements, or any postings to learn more about those. You can also visit the events page on the website.
Throughout the Week
During the week, there are a number of ways to get involved with Memorial. We also host a number of community organizations.
You can come Monday mornings to participate with the quilters, Tuesday morning our XYZ group and women’s Bible study meet. On Wednesday nights, both adult and children’s choirs rehearse and on 1st and 3rd Fridays, our youth and young adults gather.
During Lent, we also have Wednesday evening soup suppers and worship.
Beyond these ongoing events, we have numerous opportunities throughout the year to get involved with caring ministry, fellowship activities, and other service projects.
We host boy scouts on Monday nights, kettle bell classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and AA on Saturday mornings. For more information about any of these community groups, please contact the church office, 651-436-1138
