Activity Idea:
So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
Romans 10:17
Today, you’re going to set up an ‘obstacle course’. You can make this as difficult or simple as you choose, keeping in mind the age of the kid(s) participating. So long as you have a beginning point and ending goal, your obstacle course will be great!
To give us an idea what it’s like to listen to God’s voice, for this obstacle course you will be blindfolding whoever is going through it (adults, take a turn, too!). Then an adult, or another child will be giving directions through the obstacle course to lead the blindfolded person to the goal. You can do this once, twice, or rearrange the course and do it as many times as you like.
After completing the course, discuss the experience:
Was it easy to follow the voice? Are God’s instructions always easy or clear to follow?
Why is it important to listen to Christ’s words? What would have happened if you didn’t listen to the person giving instructions in the obstacle course?
How can we help people hear God’s Word in the world?
Dear God, Your Word leads to faith. Help us to listen for how you are calling us. Amen
