After a brief hiatus to let you enjoy our Holy Week devotional, we’re back with more activities/resources.
Today’s resource:
While many of you have talked to your kids about Covid, the reality that this will mean a LONG disruption to their lives is probably beginning to set in for many. Even if it hasn’t it’s good to keep communication open and look for signs and indicators that your kids may be feeling the strain of this.
The National Association of School Psychologists has published a good amount of info on helping kids cope with these times. Specifically, I encourage you to look at the section titled: “Be Aware of Your Children’s Mental Health”. Here is the NASP site Covid page: https://www.nasponline.org/resources-and-publications/resources-and-podcasts/school-climate-safety-and-crisis/health-crisis-resources/helping-children-cope-with-changes-resulting-from-covid-19
As you monitor your kids, I encourage everyone to take time to evaluate your own mental health, as this may be impacting you in ways you don’t even realize. I plan to include a resource specifically for parents in a future activity post.
Dear God, help us to understand this illness. Do not let us give into fear, but grow deeper in faith, trusting that in time kids will play together again, extended families will gather again, and we will worship together again as one body. Amen
