A note from Pastor Elizabeth:
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the Lord is so delightful!
God’s promise of redemption is known, even in the snow! Isaiah 1…Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.
Come now, let us argue it out,
says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be like snow; though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
Our Gospel reading for Sunday, Luke 24…Then he (the risen Jesus appearing to his disciples) said to them, ‘These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.’ 45Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, 46and he said to them, ‘Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, 47and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
48You are witnesses of these things.
