Prelude

Welcome

Confession And Forgiveness

Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, whose steadfast love is everlasting,

whose faithfulness endures from generation to generation. Amen.

Trusting in the mercy of God, let us confess our sin.

Silence is kept for reflection.

Reconciling God,

we confess that we do not trust your abundance,

and we deny your presence in our lives,

we deny your presence in the faces of those we encounter.

We fail to believe that you provide enough for all.

We abuse your good creation for our own benefit.

We fear difference and do not welcome others

as you have welcomed us.

We sin in thought, word, and deed.

By your grace, forgive us;

through your love, renew us;

and in your Spirit, lead us;

so that we may live and serve you in newness of life. Amen.

Beloved of God,

by the radical abundance of divine mercy

we have peace with God through ☩ Christ Jesus,

through whom we have obtained grace upon grace.

Our sins are forgiven.

Let us live now in hope.

For hope does not disappoint,

because God’s love has been poured into our hearts

through the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Hymn

Baptized and Set Free       ELW #453

Prayer

O God, you direct our lives by your grace, you welcome us exactly as we are, you love us exactly as we are. Open our hearts to your words of justice and mercy, let us join you in your saving mission for this world you so love. Mold us into a people who welcome your word and serve one another, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Gospel Reading, Matthew 10: 40-42

Jesus said to the twelve:] 40“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; 42and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”

Prayers of God’s People

God of Love, receive our prayers.

Communion

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is indeed right, our duty and our joy,

that we should at all times and in all places

give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God,

through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Fulfilling the promise of the resurrection, you pour out the fire of your Spirit,

uniting in one body people of every nation and tongue.

Holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal:

you we praise and glorify, you we worship and adore.

You formed the earth from chaos; you encircled the globe with air;

you created fire for warmth and light; you nourish the lands with water.

You molded us in your image,

and with mercy higher than the mountains, with grace deeper than the seas,

you blessed the Israelites and cherished them as your own.

That also we, estranged and dying, might be adopted to live in your Spirit,

you called to us through the life and death of Jesus.

In the night in which he was betrayed,

our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;

broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.

Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks,

and gave it for all to drink, saying:

This cup is the new covenant in my blood,

shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.

Do this for the remembrance of me.

Holy and benevolent God,receive our praise and petitions,

as Jesus received the cry of the needy, and fill us with your blessing,

until, needy no longer and bound to you in love,

we feast forever in the triumph of the Lamb:

through whom all glory and honor is yours, O God, O Living One,

with the Holy Spirit, in your holy church, now and forever. Amen.

Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those

who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever. Amen.

Communion Distribution

At this time I invite you to take the bread in your hand, pass it out to everyone in the car and say these words directly to the others in your car, and if you are in a car alone, hear these words, “This is the body of Christ given for you”.

Now, take the cup fill them with your fruit of the vine and say these words directly to the others in your car and if you are in a car alone, hear these words, “This is the blood of Christ shed for you.”

Brothers and sisters in Christ, may the body and blood for our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and bless you this day and always.  Amen.

Blessing

Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers,

nor things present, nor things to come,

nor powers, nor height, nor depth,

nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

God, the creator, ☩ Jesus, the Christ,

and the Holy Spirit, the comforter,

bless you and keep you in eternal love. Amen.
